Hi,

I'm not really sure about the bar & club business but based on what I've observed, bars/clubs are often making good money especially in places where nightlife is active. As for cost to start up one, it might be a bit expensive. You have to consider business permits, the rent of the place, the staff (waiters/waitresses, cooks, janitors, entertainers, bouncers/guards).

Good Morning Mike,

Im planning to have a business, a food cart actually. My problems is to acquire some permits before I'll operate my food cart. What are permits needed, and the first step in acquiring permits? Please help me.

Hi Josephine,

I forgot to mention that you'll also need to get a permit from the Department of Health.

Hi Josephine,

Typically, you'll need to have someone (a relative or a friend), register the business for you with the ff:

1. Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)
2. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
3. Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)
4. Your local municipality.

Once you've done that, all you need to do next is to offer it as a franchise to others. You will however need to be able to supply your franchisees with the cart, logo, ingredients, etc. It will also be great if you can assist them in registering their franchises as well.

Hi,

I just started this business and I am looking for assistance. Ive attended a couple of seminars and I believe that the concept of your blog regarding financial freedom is related to it (Robert Kiyosaki, Bob Sanchez, etc). I have a partner who's more familiar with the products that we're carrying and I just bombarded her with the ideas of launching this "as a business" instead of having the opporunity set aside as just a sideline. We started getting orders from friends and relatives, officemates and classmates and we're getting close to the expected income so we thought of going to the next level which is to launch an online catalog so customer could browse it and order through us. Our online catalog which is 50% done can be seen at sunnysideup08.multiply.com.. My boss then suggested that I apply for BFAD and get a license...I thought of it too, to get off witht the constraints and really go out to the market and distribute it at large. So I researched and ended up with a handful list of requirements for a license that is completely jargon for me. And so I looked for more info online and I ended up reading your blog. I remember, in one of the seminars, they said that I have to get a mentor if I'm planning to put up a business. I thought of stepping back a bit and put some investment on food franchising first so I could study the food business more. Would anyone help me out on this. For the readers, please do contact me through n.m.astronomo@gmail.com if you have suggestions. They are highly appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. Btw, Im also a tech guy that loves to eat. I started learning to cook when I wanted the freedom from eat-whatever's-served-on-the-dining-table traditional rule set by our parents. Why food? because we always eat.
