I work mainly at home accepting website development jobs from various clients and also from friends who outsource some of their projects to me. I have a Dell C600 Latitude laptop which I bought second-hand but serves me well. It’s right hinge is already broken but I can live with that until I earn the needed extra money to buy my new laptop. Since I work at home and my laptop allows me to work anywhere I want, I basically where from anywhere in the house that I want. Sometimes even outside the house to as far as my wifi connection can handle (which is not really that far anyway).

One day, a friend came to my house and asked, “Where is your office?” I couldn’t speak for a moment there then with all confidence, I answered, “Anywhere in the house.” He laughed and talked me into having my own office, or business centre as he calls it, at home. Basically, his idea was to reserve a space in my house where I will officially work. Eventually, we discussed the matters of office furniture such as tables, chairs, airconditioning, phones, etc.

Honestly, I love the idea of having an office in the house. I mean a ‘real’ office in the house. That way, I can clearly separate office matters from house matters and my wife would be a lot happier. Though I admit that it will cost me some money to setup my office, I still think that it’s a good investment so in the end, I’m not really losing anything. I guess sooner or later I will contact the local carpenter to start building my office. Do I really need an office? The answer is “YES, I do need an office.” It makes perfect sense anyway.
